Central Virginia Parent Workshop Meeting, 2011
How to Make Reading Aloud Fun and Effective

Parents in Central Virginia were invited a workshop to learn good read aloud strategies.  A featured speaker, Kathryn Starke, shared many ways to make reading aloud fun and effective.  While the parents attended the workshop, students made read aloud books to take home.

Before the workshop students, parents and teachers completed charts  answering questions about their favorite books, favorite genre and where they most like to read.

Parents listen to Kathryn Starke’s workshop
about strategies to use when reading aloud.

Students made read aloud books to take home.

Kathryn Starke then read aloud her book
Amy’s Travels to all of the students.
